🌐 MeshCore-E22P-Repeater - Build reliable long range mesh networks

This project provides firmware to turn your hardware into a high-performance mesh repeater. It works with the XIAO ESP32S3 and Ebyte E22P-868M30S modules. The software improves network range and connection stability by recovering signals from high noise environments.

🛠 Required Hardware

You need the following items to build this repeater:

• Seeed Studio XIAO ESP32S3 microcontroller
• Ebyte E22P-868M30S LoRa module

• An 868MHz antenna
• A 5V power supply

1. Open the releases page in your web browser.
2. Locate the section labeled Assets.
3. Click the file ending in .bin or the installer package to start the download.
4. Save the file to a folder you can find later, such as your Downloads folder.

⚙️ Installing the Firmware

The installation requires a flashing tool if you use the raw binary file. Follow these instructions to move the software onto your device.

1. Connect your XIAO ESP32S3 to your Windows computer using a USB-C cable.
2. Ensure the cable supports data transfer. Some cables only carry power and will not work.
3. Open the device manager on your computer to identify the COM port associated with the board.
4. Use the ESPHome Flasher or a similar flashing utility to select your board and the firmware file you downloaded.
5. Click the Flash button to write the software to the chip.
6. Wait for the progress bar to reach one hundred percent.
7. Disconnect and reconnect the USB cable to restart the device.

🧪 Testing the Signal

Once the device restarts, it enters operation mode. You can monitor the status using a serial terminal program.

1. Install a terminal program like PuTTY on your Windows machine.
2. Open the program and select Serial mode.
3. Type the COM port name identifying your board.
4. Set the speed to 115200 baud.
5. Click Open.
6. You will see lines of text indicating the device status and signal noise levels.
7. If you see successful heartbeats, the repeater functions correctly.

📡 Troubleshooting Common Issues

If the device does not show up in your terminal:

• Try a different USB port on your computer.
• Use a shorter, high-quality USB cable.
• Check the physical connections between the ESP32S3 and the Ebyte module.
• Ensure the antenna attaches firmly to the connector.
• Confirm your power supply provides enough current to the board.

📝 Performance Tips

Place the repeater in a high location. Keep it away from large metal objects that might block the signal. Use a high-gain antenna if you need to cover a wide area. Regularly check the releases page for updates to the signal processing algorithms. This ensures you receive the best noise-floor recovery results.
